I've heard a lot about Carl Sagan's thirteen-part 'Cosmos' program from 1980s, but never got a chance to see it because the DVD set runs around $100 and that's way out of my budget. Thankfully, Hulu (one of the greatest sites on the internets) just put up the whole series for free. You can check that out here. After watching the first episode, I'm hooked. The visuals are stunning and the music is just as great. The majority of the score was done by electronic musician Vangelis, who is most recognizable for doing the 'Blade Runner' score. The score is a huge part of what makes this program compelling; it's downright dreamlike. I highly recommend checking out at least the first episode, to see what this show is all about--imagine if 'Planet Earth' focused on the universe and was made in the 1980s--it's an interesting experience.
